Hainault House, East London

‘Floating’ extension to Victorian Terrace in East London.

An openable glazed, column free, corner to the extension provides a seamless sense of bringing the outside in and the inside out. Carefully concealed cantilever beams were designed to achieved the result.  Large roof lights in the extension bring even more natural light into the kitchen. Internally loadbearing walls were removed and new structure was carefully designed and coordinated with the Architect to support the first floor without any down-stands interrupting the flat ceiling in the kitchen/dinning space.
