Hainault House, East London
‘Floating’ extension to Victorian Terrace in East London.
An openable glazed, column free, corner to the extension provides a seamless sense of bringing the outside in and the inside out. Carefully concealed cantilever beams were designed to achieved the result. Large roof lights in the extension bring even more natural light into the kitchen. Internally loadbearing walls were removed and new structure was carefully designed and coordinated with the Architect to support the first floor without any down-stands interrupting the flat ceiling in the kitchen/dinning space.
There are many reasons why we engage SD Structures on our projects, but their enthusiasm and passion for well-considered design solutions stands out probably the most. Their thorough approach not only results in elegant and neat architectural detail, but also often offers cost savings thanks to specific structural solutions that are based on an in-depth understanding of each project. Their professional and efficient work ethic turns challenges into exciting solutions. It is a true joy to work with such an engaging and highly competent team.Peter Lancaric - Director- P.LANSTUDIO Architects
