Listed & Historic Building Consent
Work on historic listed buildings can require listed building consent to alter the structure. SD Structure bring experience, sensitivity and judgement to help achieve this.
Often much of the structure is hidden, and the form and condition can only be assessed with knowledge of historic methods of construction. Engineering judgement is required to evaluate the strength and performance of the structure with reference to historic codes rather than compliance current guidance which would often result in unnecessary strengthening work. We believe Engineering solutions should involve minimal intervention and need to be carried out with sympathetic methods not only to maintain the historic fabric but to achieve sustainable design that will continue to last for decades.
